Nasi bungkus (wrapped-to-go rice) is one of my favorite thing that I miss from home. Back home then, I used to take it for granted since I had it very often for meetings or for outdoor events. For me, nasi bungkus tastes different than entre that's served on plate. The sogginess of rice mixed with dishes creates unique savor that I can't verbally explain.
Understand her wife tardiness, hubby suggested me to use pyrexand pack our lunch the night before. I insisted to use brown wrapper instead and prepare it in the morning after reheating the food. I was eager to eat nasi bungkus on our way to Indiana. Usually, hubby prefered to grab fast food when we were travelling for practical reason. But after our hike to the mountain this early spring, he just compromises to my lunch idea.
I woke up at 6.30 am to show my punctuality. Hehee... We planned to leave at 8 am so we could come to my friend's rehearsal dinner in Indiana. I heated everything that I cooked the night before, then made two nasi bungkus.
The entree consisted of rice, stir fried tempeh, leftover fried egg white, leftover dried anchovy and hot sauce. The wrapper was made from brown bag and parchment paper.
The rice was heated naturally by summer heat when we stopped by at Ikea near Cincinnati, Ohio. In less than an hour we could enjoy our warm food in Mighty, our black Civic. Hubby and I enjoyed our time while having lunch. It was such a crazy moment when we laughed out loud while eating. It's not around our dining table, but on a huge parking lot in neighbor state. Since that time, we officially name it Nasi Honda! Happy ONDa roAd! Heehee.....
